PET Facts
PET's chemical formula is (C10H8H4)n.
It's molar mass is 192 g/mol.
It's density is 0.0499 lbs/cu in.
PET has a boiling point of less than 250 to 260 degrees Celsius.
Even though PET is a man made material and not found in nature, it's natural state is colorless and transparent, meaning that it is clear and see through.
PET Plastic is a great moisture and gas barrier--that is why we use it for water bottles and food containers.
After PET bottles are used, we recycle them to make either polyester clothing, new soft drink bottles, carpeting, and/or sleeping bag insulation.
